A brief Biography

It was early May in Oxfordshire, the birds were singing and the cows mooing when Amelia was born.
Her earliest memories are of ballet dancing, putting on plays, the dressing up box, baking cakes and having monster mud pie competitions.
Early ambitions included being a ballet dancer, a tv chef, an outdoor persuits instructor and a successful arty person.
She has had lots of jobs including working in a credit bank (little art or credit in banking), Selling shoes (soleless), Making sandwiches (now were getting creative), Waitressing (its what artists do to pay the rent), and being a market trader.

In 1990 she moved to London and found her creativity calling. She took an intensive course in Batik work and immediatly loved the technique of drawing and painting upon fabric. It was but a short step to painting on silk.
She set up her own business designing and making hand painted silk cards ..loads of them.. They were sold in lots of nice little shops and galleries and some big ones including Boots, WHSmith and Liberty.
Her work has been published and sold on cards, giftwrap, mugs, and balloons. She has even designed some clock faces.
A gallery in Cairo regularly commissioned her paintings and her work has been sold across the globe.

Amelias work is best described as quirky illustration which reflects the lighter side of life through her much loved characters.
Over the last decade Amelia has built up a diverse portfolio and her original silk paintings have featured in a number of exhibitions accross the country. Inspiration comes from nature, a vivid imagination, a love of storytelling, baking cakes and all of the lovely people around her.
